Five Minutes

A Buffy the Vampire Slayer story by Gwynnega

your heart won't ward off
the devil's handshake
unless you let go of his hand
so give me 5 minutes
to change the world

"Do you remember what you were like, before you were killed?" Giles asked as she straddled him, pinned him to the library floor. "Please, try to remember."

"Sure, I remember. I was shy. I liked to read books. I couldn't get laid." She licked his neck, and he shivered in spite of himself - and not just from fear. He was getting hard, and when she licked his neck again, he bucked against her. She grinned. "Things have changed."

He struggled, but her grip was strong. "Please don't. The girl I once knew...she'd abhor...she'd..." He couldn't think. Panic and lust buzzed in his veins.

Her face changed back to human form. "The girl you once knew liked you a lot, Giles. Did you know that?" She nibbled his earlobe with blunt teeth. "'re all fizzy inside. Like soda pop. The kind I used to sip through a straw at the Bronze, before we got better things to drink there. Your blood's all hot and fizzy. It's gonna be delicious." She smiled at him, and her face changed again. "We're gonna have fun."

"Please...please..." He wasn't sure what he was pleading for anymore. She sank her teeth into him. She drank for what seemed an eternity, until he was cold and the air felt thin around him. Then he was drinking her sweet blood from a gash she'd made in the milky skin just above her breasts. It went down his throat like salt honey. "Willow," he whispered. Then he was gone.

Xander couldn't believe it when she showed up hand in hand with the guy. "Look what I did, Xander!" She grinned like she'd just eaten a three-year-old.

"So Book Guy's turned into what? Bad-ass Librarian Guy?"

Giles stared him down. "Something like that."

"I never stopped liking books, Xander," Willow said. "Ripper has a copy of The Story of O. It's really nifty. Gave me some ideas for stuff to do with the puppy."

"We'll have ourselves a good time," Giles muttered, and he kissed her. Her arms went around his neck. One of her legs coiled around him, and she started humping him. Xander couldn't believe she had a thing for that old librarian who'd been a White Hat.

When she reached up and scratched a fine line of blood along Giles's cheek, then lingeringly licked it off, Xander lost patience. For the first time since he'd been turned, he felt like he was back in high school, and that just wasn't okay.

"Hey, Book Guy. You think it's gonna be the two of you? Think again, pal."

Willow turned, licking her lips. She could barely take her eyes off the old guy. "C'mon," she said. "Can't we all have fun together, the three of us?"

"I don't think so," Xander said, fists clenched.

Giles backed him up against the wall. "Neither do I." He smiled, and it was a pretty scary smile for a guy who'd only just been turned. Next thing Xander knew, Book Guy had shoved a stake through his heart. He saw Willow's stricken look, her eyes wide, as he - weirdest sensation - turned to dust.

"How could you do that?" She slashed at him with fingernails and fangs. He caught her wrists.

"You think you're in charge here, because you changed me?" He barked out a laugh. "I promise you'll not regret what you've done, or what I've done either."

She wanted to hate him. He'd destroyed her oldest friend, her love, the boy who'd turned her. She'd invited Xander in one night. She hadn't realized what he'd become, courtesy of his pal Jesse, and she was so greedy for his kisses, she didn't much care.

Now Xander was gone. Giles let go of her, and she pounded on his chest with her fists. Then she stopped. She pressed her face against his chest where the heart no longer beat. She wanted him, and it was more, bigger than what she'd felt for her friend.

A minute later he had her against the wall where he'd dusted Xander. Her legs were around his waist as he pounded into her. He was hers, this one she'd never thought she could have when she was a bookish mouse. She was his. She didn't need anyone else.

"Tell me more about the Master's plans," he said afterward. "Automation? It sounds idiotic. Being a vampire is about the hunt, the kill. We don't need machinery for that."

"What are you gonna do? Argue with the Master?"

"No. I'm going to kill him. I'll be master here."

She laughed. "You know, I believe you." She took his hand. "Come on, I'll introduce you to him. Then maybe we can play with the puppy."

"My sweet girl, my Willow." He kissed her hard. "I feel so alive." He smiled like she'd never seen him smile when he lived.

"Funny, isn't it?" He made her feel almost like that girl she'd been before - giddy and in love like a schoolgirl. Xander had been content to be one of the Master's minions, but not this one. He had so much to teach her. She'd chosen well.
